Giving Opportunities

Stewardship is the act of joyously responding to God by managing our time, relationships, talent, resources and activities for His glory.

Stewardship is not about placing a check or cash in the offering plate and thinking that we have paid our dues to be in God's good graces.

Stewardship is effectively managing the Lord’s resources for his benefit and honor.

Stewardship should be reviewed regularly to see how, as God’s caretakers, we can better serve Him and build His kingdom to bring glory and honor to God.

Planned Giving

Include Bethany in Your Planning

  • You can bequeath a sum of money, specified personal or real property, or a share of your estate's residue.

  • Your gift can be contingent. That is, you can provide that the money, property or share is to go to some individual if that person survives you; otherwise, it's to be distributed to us. The official legal bequest language for Bethany Presbyterian Church is: "I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to Bethany Presbyterian Church, Loves Park, Illinois, [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose."

  • You can create a trust for a relative's benefit, assuring the availability of income and principal for that person's support and comfort, and name us to receive whatever is left when the trust terminates.

  • For greater tax savings, you can establish a charitable remainder trust that will pay an income for life to the individual of your choice and the remaining principal to us.

  • We generally prefer gifts without limits on their use so we can apply them to our most urgent needs. But you have every right to restrict your bequest by directing how you want it used or allowing us to expend only the income from your gift. If you want to designate a specific purpose, we need you to consult us in advance to make certain we'll be able to carry out your wishes.

  • You can make your bequest in memory of yourself or a loved one. We'll be pleased to honor your intent, and we have many ways to grant appropriate recognition.

  • For more information, contact Pastor Eric or Pam at 1-815-877-8001.
